Bystander Intervention Conference a Splendid Success!

On May 31 and June 1, more than 250 bystander intervention educators and activists gathered at Northeastern University in Boston for Bystander Intervention: from its roots to the road ahead. The international conference was sponsored by Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), a program of the NCAS and Sport in Society at Northeastern. Dynamic panelists discussed bystander intervention strategies, how to most effectively teach them, and the challenges often experienced by those in the field.
Special speakers included Jackson Katz, Byron Hurt, Debby Tucker (National Center on Domestic & Sexual Violence), Sally Lasky (National Sexual Violence Resource Center), Alan Berkowitz, Vicky Banyard (Bringing in the Bystander), Don McPherson, Sut Jhally (Media Education Foundation), Michelle Garcia (National Stalking Resource Center), and Graham Goulden (Scotland Police Violence Reduction Unit).
